139 Million Nigerians Still Living in Poverty Despite Reform Gains World Bank Report ‎

The World Bank has expressed concern that 139 million Nigerians are still living in poverty, despite the macroeconomic reform gains recorded in recent years.

‎In its latest assessment, the global financial institution acknowledged Nigeria’s progress in implementing economic reforms but emphasized the need for these efforts to translate into real improvements in the lives of citizens.

‎According to the World Bank, while structural reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification may boost fiscal stability, they must also be complemented by targeted social investments that protect the most vulnerable populations.

‎The report underscores the importance of inclusive growth, calling on Nigerian leaders to ensure that policy successes lead to meaningful poverty reduction and improved living standards across the nation.
