My dear sister, Madam Kartumu Yarta Boakai, the First Lady of the Republic of Liberia, is Liberia’s First Lady Madam Kartumu Yarta Boakai Visits Sierra Leone for Women & Girls Empowerment Campaigns warmly welcomed to Sierra Leone. She arrived safely this morning to join us in the launching of the Building Resilience Campaign for Women and Girls in the Face of Climate Change and Conflict and to commemorate the 7th anniversary of the ‘Hands Off Our Girls’ Campaign.

‎Her visit symbolizes the strong sisterly bond within Africa and our shared commitment to empowering women and girls. The people of Sierra Leone extend their warmest hospitality, and together we look forward to strengthening our partnership to create a safer, more supportive environment for all.

First Lady Fatima Maada Bio Joins NAMWA Cultural Dance Meet in North America

On September 27, 2025, First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and President of OAFLAD, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, joined the North America Madingo Women Association (NAMWA) at their Cultural Dance Meet.

 

She described the occasion as a deeply moving experience, celebrating vibrant women who continue to preserve and promote Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage in the diaspora.

 

Her participation was more than a celebration of traditions—it was a reaffirmation of her commitment to cultural diplomacy, community engagement, and women’s empowerment worldwide. She emphasized that when women unite in strength and solidarity, they create lasting impact within their communities and beyond.

 

The First Lady extended her heartfelt appreciation to NAMWA for their warm welcome and for keeping Sierra Leone’s culture alive through music, dance, and sisterhood.

First Lady Fatima Maada Bio Honored at CRANS MONTANA Forum for Advocacy Work Supporting Women and Children

 

On Sunday, at the closing ceremony of the CRANS MONTANA Forum in Brussels, hosted by Ambassador John Paul Carteron, I was honored with an award for my exceptional advocacy work on behalf of women and children worldwide.
The award was presented by the head of the European Commission of Justice and a representative of the UN Secretary General. These distinguished individuals expressed their pleasure in recognizing my efforts to protect our girls and uphold the dignity of African women.
This award is dedicated to all the women in Africa who are enduring emotional, physical, sexual, and domestic abuse. To them, I say: it shall be well.
